GBBO Blog - Caramel Special

by Owen Redford

This week’s GBBO episode centered around caramel bakes and we here at Baking Time Club couldn’t get enough! In the tent the bakers were tasked with creating caramel classic such as Millionaire’s Shortbread and the Dutch staple of Stroopwaffels. With varying degrees of success in all the tasks, we saw Kate crowned as star baker (although the social media consensus was that Liam was perhaps more deserving of the title) and unfortunately had to say goodbye Tom as he left the tent.

Paleo & Vegan Caramel Sauce

First up on this week’s list we have the main component to any caramel bake; the caramel itself! This particular recipe is for a paleo/vegan friendly version and it looks absolutely delicious. The best thing about this recipe is that it only takes 5 minutes to make and only needs 3 ingredients.

Secondly, we have these amazing salted caramel brownies. Salted caramel has become a really popular flavour over the last few years and we completely understand why because it is delicious. This recipe can be made from start to finish in around 55 minutes and is perfect for an autumnal treat.

Banoffee Pie In a Jar

Coming next on our list we have a slightly obscure bake with this banoffee pie in a jar. By making it in this way it means you can take them when you’re on the go and aren’t just confined to post dinner moments. This recipe also takes just 15 minutes to make from start to finish.

Salted Caramel Praline Macaroons

Fourth on this week’s list we have these incredible salted caramel praline macaroons. These are the perfect light treat and we particularly like the use of crumbled nuts to accent the outside to give these macaroons a bit of something different. This recipe takes around an hour and a half to make and will make 24 macaroons.

Caramel & Shortbread Bark

Last but by no means least on this week’s list is this recipe for this delightful caramel and shortbread bark. These two flavours have been mixed many times before but that doesn’t take anything away from this recipe.
