GBBO - Top Five Bakes Special

It’s time for our final GBBO inspired blog. What a finale Tuesday night’s episode was, with the remaining 3 bakers taking their hand to a mixture of entremets cakes as well as breads and biscuits. In the end, it was Sophie who was crowned this year’s GBBO winner but all three finalists really pulled out all the stops in this year’s final. Despite initial fears that the move to Channel 4 may damage the show as well as Prue’s Twitter hiccough earlier in the day (when she shockingly revealed the winner before the episode airing), the episode drew in more...

GBBO Blog - Patisserie Special

GBBO blog time! This week’s semi-final episode saw the final 4 of this year’s competition take on Patisserie week. Some of the French-themed bakes we saw included Choux Buns, Les Miserables Slices & a Meringue centre-piece with some being better than others. In what Paul Hollywood called “the closest call in 8 series”, we unfortunately had to say goodbye to Stacey as she left the tent at the final hurdle. GBBO Blog - Forgotten Bake Special

GBBO blog time! This week’s quarter final episode saw the bakers take on ‘forgotten bakes’ such as Cumberland Rum Nicky and Bedfordshire Clangers, as well other recipes that had been long forgotten. One thing that won’t be forgotten about this episode however is the shock that occurred at the end of the episode. 19-year-old Liam, who was a fan favourite on the show and who a lot of people thought may have a chance of winning the entire thing, left the tent after a less than impressive performance. GBBO Blog - Italian Special

GBBO blog time! This week in the tent the bakers were tasked with facing a wide array of Italian themed bakes in the shows first ever Italian episode. Some of the bakes the contestants were up against included filled cannoli, pizza and sfogliatelle. Throughout the episode Liam, Sophie and Stephen constantly performed well whilst bakers such as Kate and Stacey struggled. Ultimately though, it was Yan who left the tent this week after her under-baked sfogliatelle left the judges far from impressed. Mama mia! GBBO Blog- Pastry Special

GBBO blog time! This week in the tent we welcomed pastry week back and it was an eventful episode. In line with the pastry theme, we saw such bakes as savoury pies (Liam’s “Nan’s Sunday Dinner” savoury pies were a particular highlight) and a custard tart technical. This week we also saw 19-year-old Liam crowned star baker and sadly we had to say goodbye to Julia as she left the show after a less than impressive week. With only four more episodes to go, this series has really flown by and we here at Baking Time Club don’t want it...
