No Milk Chocolate and Banana Milkshake - Dairy Free Recipe
A thick and creamy chocolate banana milkshake for breakfast or post workout boost, and it doesn't require milk or a dairy free milk! By using frozen banana and ice cubes, the smoothie stays thick, cold and tastes creamy, so no milk or ice-cream required.
I made this shake for breakfast before going cycling, I wanted a rich milkshake, but I'd run out of almond milk, (the almonds are soaking in the fridge). I usually have a fruit and veg smoothie for breakfast, so I make my almond milk in the afternoon, so I didn't let the lack of milk stop me, I created this delicious thick chocolaty banana shake.
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 raw banana in chunks
5 dates
4 cashew nuts
1 cup of cold water
1 square of dark chocolate (optional)
2 tsp of cocoa powder
1 tsp of vanilla essence/flavoring
1 frozen banana in chunks
6 ice cubes
Throw these all in the blender in the order listed, I use a Vitamix. Turn to the highest speed for about 1 minute, until the smoothie is smooth and no bits remain.
Makes about 3 cups worth, so a decent sized glass, it is surprisingly filling but if you want more just double the quantity or add more ice cubes to make it stretch further.
Drink straightaway, before anyone else can try and steal it from you!
